Happy Halloween!

I was at the sewing machine until almost 6 pm last night, but I did get finished! :) The Leia hat turned out to be the most awesome thing! My ears were nice and toasty in the freezing wind last night. Here's The Boy and myself; The Hubby (as Obi-Wan) and The Boy engaged in a lightsaber battle; all of us together (we're going to try to get a better shot in the daylight today); and a closeup of the Leia hat. The funniest part about the whole thing is that we're not huge Star Wars fans--but it was fun to go with The Boy's theme and get dressed up. Hope everyone at your house had a spooky and fun night, too!

Leia Hat details
Pattern: Leia Hat
Yarn:Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Superchunky / color 16025
Gauge: 3 st/inch--very quick to knit
Construction: basic hat shape, then two long tubes that are stuffed and rolled into "buns" then sewn on. Easy. :)
Modifications: The tubes are supposed to be 24" long, but I think I ran out of yarn by 18" or so. Coiled up, they were still as big around as my outstretched palm. I can't imagine how huge the buns would have been at 24 inches! LOL!

Those are amazing costumes! You're so handy! The picture of the boys fighting is just too darn cute for words, and the Leia wig is awesome.

You sewed those costumes yourself, didn't you? I am very very impressed. They turned out completely fabulous. And the Leia hat is hilarious.

The Leia hat is really awesome - but the mini Darth Vader is just the coolest! How cute is he? He's like a Mini-Me for Star Wars.

Absolutely the best costumes I've seen. Your dad said he wasn't surprised that you were still sewing at 6 PM...because you ARE my daughter! Glad you stayed warm, too.

I hope you took this show on the road! Those are prize-winning costumes! Did you cut your own patterns, or are they commercially available? Next year, make the boy a Yoda costume, and you are good to go again!
