It was my first sock . . .

and now it's gone. I ripped it. Yes, the very first sock I ever knit (there was never a mate) and I've turned it back into a ball of yarn.

The poor thing never fit well. It was a little too big in the foot and way too baggy in the leg. I used the Elann.com Sock-It-To-Me pattern, but I secretly suspect that my gauge was probably off. No matter. I learned how to do a toe-up pattern and a short row heel, and for that, I'm thankful.

I absolutely love, love, LOVE that yarn*, though, so I decided to rip it and make respectable socks out of it. One day. After the blasted Olympics. ;)
